So, today I went in and met the boss for the first time. After several e-mails and even a run in with a family member I was hoping he was as pleasant as he seemed. Since I'm staying literally 5 minutes away from where I'll be working and my meeting was at 3, I began my getting ready routine around 2. Well, 10 minutes into straightening my hair I get a phone call from a Savannah phone number. (Crap, is it him telling me he doesn't need me anymore and now I'm out of an internship?) I don't know why I tend to think the worst. He was stuck at a job site and needed to postpone for an hour (phew!) So, 4pm rolls around and i stroll into the store and restore building and immediately hear a sweet German accent asking "Hi! Are you Danille?" It was Annabelle, a SCAD student currently pursuing her masters degree in interior design, the girl I'll be sitting in for while she makes a summer trip to Germany.

We chat about ourselves and go over a few things about day to day stuff and how, for most of the time, I'll probably be the only one here and everything is relatively simple once you get the hang of it. I found out that Store and Restore is also a small storage facility, so I'll have to run that part too. (Not too hard, most of the units are already rented out and the paperwork is kind of tedious but simple). After finding out I'll be using AutoCAD and only AutoCAD (sigh) she shows me an example of some CDs they recently had printed. A relatively large single family home with a detached garage and a river house. The plans were simple, nothing I haven't done (in Revit, but still... AutoCAD is like riding a bike, right?) I was ready to jump in. Shortly after Annabelle showed me around the remainder of the property, Roy (Architect, Owner, Boss, Nicest guy ever) walks in. We go over initial stuff; schools, programs, projects, paychecks, start dates, and other employees. Since this was only a brief meeting, I head back home 30-40 minutes later. My start date is Tuesday the 26th, so I'll check back then! (Also, pictured is an example of Roy’s work displayed in the waiting area.)

Much love from Ogletree and me!
