After a long, fun, and sunny Memorial day weekend here in Savannah, I strolled into work Tuesday morning for my 9-5. Immediately I was greeted by the sweetest pair of brown eyes I ever did see! Pictured here is sweet Shelby, Annabelle’s boyfriend’s 9-month-old chocolate cocker spaniel. (My mom would be in love! we used to raise cocker spaniels back on the farm. Lol no, but really…) so I come in an get settled, and get put to work drawing up a floor plan in AutoCAD. So, from 9-12 I diligently try to remember keys and shortcuts only for them to not work because we have a 2011 version and I obviously forgot how to ride this bike. The existing conditions were 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, so 4 hours is appropriate right? Did I mention Annabelle only uses 2 separate layers? Only lines and nothing from the libraries? And copies the plan to create “sheets”? I have no idea. It’s nothing like we learned at the point law firm, that’s for sure. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, or ill just swipe over to my handy dandy parallels, download me a new AutoCAD and big ol’ library and have at it the way I know best.
Any who, if it isn’t implied, Annabelle the designer/receptionist/assistant around here where she works in AutoCAD daily, answers phones, helps with the storage facility, maintains cleanliness of the office, files, sorts, and things of that nature. She also tends to go with Roy to jobs sites from time to time or run other errands downtown, or w
herever Roy may need. She’s been here for about 3 years so she knows the ins and outs of the place and I’m lucky to be working with her for this week before she heads across the world.
Bill, AKA Bill Bell (super catchy), is a part owner of the “store” part of store and restore. He came in this morning for about half an hour to do some paperwork and such, but that’s normal I’m told. Nice, just like everyone else here, except we have to share a desk (It’s a large one, so I’m not mad). I’m sure ill spend some time organizing it once Annabelle leaves.Roy Ogletree is the boss. He’s a licensed architect and provides design and construction services for Savannah and surrounding areas. He’s mostly out of the office meeting with clients or on job sites, sometimes an hour away, so we haven’t had a chance to sit down and go over a to-do list with me. Sometime this week we’ll get to that, so I’m not worried.
I answered phones, organized (some) of the library, flipped through sample books, drew up a plan in AutoCAD, asked questions, answered questions, and of course played with sweet Shelby. Annabelle and I are both ending our day with some schoolwork and a nice Coffee House Tunes playlist.
Much love from Ogletree and me!
Danille Joris (Currently at my designer, receptionist, assistant desk)
